Meet our PRayer Team

MIMI LAM

Hi! I am Mimi Lam. I am an architect turned homeschool mom for the earlier part of my boys' education. Afterwards, I devoted myself to an international prayer ministry, Moms In Prayer. This is where I learn and grow my love for prayer. I have a husband and two young adult sons, all prayer-soaked. When I am not busy taking care of my family or in prayer, I love to read a good book, tend my garden, and hang out with my lady friends to have some good laughs.

During my toughest years as mom of teenage boys, it was the prayer with my sisters in Christ that sustained me and helped keep my eyes on the promise-keeping God. I experienced the transformational power of prayer and fellowship. It is my desire to be there for you in your journey as well.

KAI & ELISE CHENG

We've attended Lighthouse since January 2019. Having raised three children who are now in their 20s, Rebekah, Isaac & Timothy, we've learned the power and importance of prayer. Rebekah used to be a SYTE Advisor at Lighthouse when she was in college. We encourage more brothers & sisters to experience God through communicating with Him via prayer. It's a privilege and a humbling experience. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Phil 4:6-8)

GRACE PARK

My name is Grace Park.  I am a survivor of squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue.  Although I lost most of my tongue, I continue to pray to this day because it’s through prayer where I have learned to cling to God, wrestle with God, obey God, love God, know God, regain strength in God and follow Jesus.  Prayer is not always easy to do, but what I know is that I can’t live without kneeling before the Lord.

HELENA LEE

My name is Helena Lee. I am a mother, wife, and a kindergarten teacher. I am a granddaughter and a great-granddaughter of tenacious prayer warriors. I am who I am today because of the countless prayers poured into my life.

I feel God’s pleasure when I pray. I am deeply blessed by what God reveals to each person almost as much as the one who is receiving the prayer.  God has a way of touching and transforming people’s lives like no one else in this world.   Prayer is a gift to receive, give, and to be shared.

SUSAN MOCHIZUKI

I am a child of the Most High God, wife of Jim, mom of two adult sons, grandma of two lovely granddaughters, spiritual director, former educator, sister, friend, follower of King Jesus! Why am I on the prayer team at Lighthouse? I was invited by Pastor Nancy to join, I love to pray, I love to teach others to pray and to listen for God, I love to come alongside other Christians in their journeys. It is in my blood line: my parents fervently praying for me over the years, my grandmother was known by others in her church to pray, my great-aunt also was a pray-er.

GAELYN HENKEL

Hi, my name is Gaelyn. I'm married to Tom and have two kids, a dog, cat and chickens. I love to garden, take long walks, and hang out with my family and friends. Music and art are a huge part of our lives. If I find time, I am lost in a book, a rare treat.

I was starting to lose a lot of sleep because God was waking me up to pray for people. He was also asking me to pray for complete strangers and revealing things about their lives that I would have never known. I started to think I was going crazy and shared my experiences with Pastor Nancy. She invited me to a prayer meeting and told me that there were other people just like me. I was so relieved but also wary because I had never considered myself as exceptionally prayerful nor wanted a prayer gift. I also thought people who had a prayer gift were super spiritual and had a direct line to Jesus. But over time, and with wonderfully patient people shepherding me on prayer, I grew to understand prayer more. I continue to learn daily about how to listen to the Holy Spirit and understand the uniqueness of the gift God has blessed me with.

RANDEL HERD

There is power in corporate prayer in pairs and small groups. I enjoy praying with others, whether it is for guidance, healing or a personal breakthrough.

BECKY ROWE

Hiya! My name is Becky Rowe and I’m a recent(ish) transplant from California. Pastor Nancy is an old family friend and lured me up here in the summer. I fell in love with how green everything was here. When I found myself at the end of a contract and jobless, I took a leap of faith and moved up here. Pastor Nancy was kind enough to let me couch surf with her for a few months and in those few months I had the opportunity to see how prayer can work in your life; especially prayers prayed over you aloud. When Susan offered me the opportunity to join prayer team, I figured it was a chance to share that experience with others. I can usually be found curled up in a comfy armchair reading a fantasy novel, knitting away on my latest project, or binge re-watching the seasons of Great British Bake Off on Netflix. If I’m not there I’m likely giving a new baking recipe a whirl  or (very recently) rowing on Lake Sammamish with the Sammamish Rowing Association novice team at insanely early hours. I look forward to being able to have the privilege of praying for you!

CRAIG NIIYAMA

Hi I’m Craig, I love to pray which is just talking to Jesus.  Jesus is a great listener, gives great Biblical advice, and has the power to do something.  One of the Lighthouse pastors once said that Jesus can do in an instant what I could never do in a lifetime.  As I get older, the more I realize that all my blessings have been because of prayers. I love to pray for others for God’s blessings to overflow in their life. I have a wonderful wife Chisaki and two lovely daughters Yumi and Itsumi.  “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

DOROTHY OLUND

Hi. I am Dorothy Olund. I am blessed to be married to my husband Tom and have two awesome sons, Kenji and Matthew. I love to pray! I feel God's loving embrace when I speak to Him. Sometimes, I feel hesitant to come before God in prayer, because I feel lacking in my ability to convey my thoughts or the thoughts and feelings of others. But I learned that I don't have to worry because I know God will understand. In Psalms 139:4 it says "Before a word is on my tongue, you know it completely." I can rest in His Word in Isaiah 65:24 "Before they call, I will answer. While they are still speaking, I will hear." What a joy, what freedom God has given us to come before Him with all our hurts, all our needs, all our fears and desires. He has all the answers, all the power and wisdom to change us and our circumstances. He is waiting to lavish His love upon us when we come to Him in prayer.

TRACY WONG

Hello!! I am Tracy, a Vancouverite turned Seattlite who loves to backpack travel, go on long walks, take photos and play board games. I also just love getting my hands dirty doing arts & crafts, cooking new recipes, gardening, breaking things apart and engineering it back together.

Prayer to me is like conversing with God, whether it was just the usual walk going home after my college class, or it was the panic over a meeting at work, or simply in awe by the beautiful sunset painted on the sky, I would tell God all about it because not only He is our Father, our lover, but our friend. At times, God would put prompting on my heart to pray for certain people and for certain things that I don’t really know about; I would learn to listen to the Holy Spirit and pray faithfully, and God will always always answer.
